Since the start of the semester I have felt uninspired more and more everyday.  It feels like it's raining all the time.  Meaning, that just like when it rains and you want to stay inside, I feel like keeping to myself.  Not sharing things, creating or even writing (and I write everyday.)
Now, it feels like the sky has cleared a little bit and a crack of sunlight has shown through.  One of the things that helps me when I'm feeling uninspired is talking about what helps me to feel inspired.
Drinking tea helps, and writing in my journal help to clear my mind.  Being a sentimental person, I like to look back on a few things I liked in the past.  Like rereading some of my favorite books, currently I'm rereading The Spectacular Now by Tim Tharp.  Watching movies I've always wanted to see but never did, recently I watched Goodfellas (1990), and The Lobster (2015) and Moonrise Kingdom (2012).  All movies I've been pinning over but never had the time to watch.  And then those endless scrolls through tumblr, as corny as it sounds I am a tumblr kid.  I love looking through my timeline and collecting images and quotes that inspire me.

Goodfellas (1990)
If it's not obvious yet, I love music and the first and thing I do when I start to feel low or uninspired is listen to music.  This week it's been listening to Sun (2012) by Cat Power.  I'll be honest, I heard of Cat Power but haven't actually started listening to her until about two weeks ago when I was at a concert and the venue played, "Manhattan" while we were waiting.  In that moment I fell in love with Cat Power.

"Don't look at the moon tonight
You'll never be never be never be Manhattan"
Walking to work, or class even just running errands I listen to this song, walking through the streets of Manhattan.  Some days, I wonder why I'm here.  But then there are days when I look up, I see the sun peaking through the tall buildings, all the people walking around me and I'm amazed I get to live here.  This song reminds me of those high school nights where I would lay on the roof of my car looking at stars, wishing I was New York.  Back then it seemed like all my problems would be solved if I lived in New York.
If only those days still existed.

**A few images, quotes & songs that inspire me.**

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times." Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities
"There is nothing wrong with loving the crap out of everything. Negative people find their walls. So never apologize for your enthusiasm. Never. Ever. Never." Ryan Adams

"We read books to find out who we are. What other people, real or imaginary, do and think and feel—or have done and thought and felt; or might do and think and feel—is an essential guide to our understanding of what we ourselves are and may become."  Ursula K. Le Guin, The Language of the Night

  1. I am inspired and thankful for being here to read this. God is so awesome. He sends the sun or a pleasant day to keep us inspired. Keep doing what you are doing and spreading the good news.
